Calgary Sun Letters to the Editor for Thursday, April 10, 2025

It was impressive to see the overflow crowd of supporters that Mark Carney was able to attract during the Calgary Liberal rally. The 13,646 square foot Red and White venue was filled to capacity, plus some overflow. I believe the capacity of that venue is around 900. Taking away the three Liberal candidates and their immediate staff that would probably bring the supporter (inside the venue) to approximately 850. Not bad for a city with a population of approximately 1.2 million, showing immense support for an Alberta boy. By comparison it is slightly less than the rally turnout that Poilievre had of between 13,000-15,000 attendees in the 360,000 square foot venue in Edmonton a day earlier.

(Do we detect a hint of sarcasm in your letter, D.J.?)

To high heaven

WOW, not only does President Donald Trump of the United States endorse Mark Carney, but Chairman Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China also endorses Mark Carney. Something stinks!

Who’s profiting?

Correct me if I’m wrong, but if a company or individual manipulates a stock, let alone the entire stock market, is that not considered insider trading?

Doug Hyslip

(Only if they benefit from said manipulation. Only time will tell if Trump.)

Verdict’s in

Very glad that Tamara Lich only got a mischief charge,  anyone who stood up to Trudeau is a hero in my book. Terry Fox will soon be on the five dollar bill ‘The Fox Fiver’ I think Tamara should be on a ten dollar bill: The ‘Tamara Ten’  (and you can take that to the bank).

Terry Toll

(Not sure we should be putting criminals on our money just yet. There are some people who have stood up to Trudeau who didn’t break the law doing it.)

Price gouging

Now that gas prices have been reduced to reflect the carbon tax being removed, when can we expect the price to decrease to reflect the price of oil has decreased by approximately $12 per barrel? We all know that it would have taken them mere hours to increase the price of gas had oil gone UP $12 per barrel.

Ken Miller

(Anything to keep the bottom line extra cushy.)
