Ghost of Yōtei Is Launching on October

Sucker Punch Productions is set to unveil a gameplay deep dive of Ghost of Yōtei during a special State of Play presentation in July. The studio confirmed the upcoming gameplay showcase in a PlayStation Blog post released after the June 2025 State of Play event.

While Ghost of Yōtei made a brief appearance during the June presentation, it served more as a quiet reminder that the long-awaited sequel is still on track for its October launch. For fans eager to learn more, the July deep dive promises a much more detailed look at the game’s updated mechanics.

Although the quick teaser left many fans wanting more, Sucker Punch confirmed that next month’s presentation will offer an in-depth exploration of Ghost of Yōtei’s gameplay. The showcase will focus on expanded mechanics such as exploration, combat, and other key features that mark an evolution from the original game.

Announced last September, Ghost of Yōtei introduces a new protagonist, Atsu, a warrior navigating a violent path through Japan in the year 1603. The story promises a fresh perspective while maintaining the tone and cultural respect that defined its predecessor. Director Nate Fox has emphasized that the sequel, like Ghost of Tsushima, aims to be a faithful representation of Japanese history and landscape.

Fans have waited since 2020 for another journey through Sucker Punch’s vision of feudal Japan. And the upcoming State of Play will finally offer a closer look at what lies ahead. With refined gameplay systems and a new narrative approach, Ghost of Yōtei looks ready to carve out its own legacy.

Ghost of Yōtei is launching on October 2, 2025, exclusively for PlayStation 5.
