Don’t know why some folks are getting their knickers in a knot because the Premier is suggesting a referendum on the separation issue. The best way to settle things would be to have a vote, just as we in Calgary did on the Olympics issue (the result of which put Mayor Nenshi’s nose out of joint.)

VERA MCINTOSH

(So long as you’re prepared to live with the results)

Wanted!

Hard-working, serious-minded people who share our values, can still move to Alberta before we become an independent country in 2026. If you want to escape from your crazy Liberal Woke-Policy Government, you’ll feel at ease, comfortable and at home in Conservative Alberta. If you’re a skilled tradesperson, we’ll even give you $5,000 towards your move. Please consider this the LAST CALL to move to Alberta as a Canadian, because after we become the Alberta Republic, our new national immigration policies will apply. Lazy milquetoast whining wimps need not apply!

City taxes a sore spot

Left-wingers trying to blame anyone but the city for tax increase. But the city part of the bill is $2,587, the province part is $1,544. Many fixed-income seniors will be forced to sell their houses. Maybe the city is trying to fix the housing crisis by forcing seniors out of theirs. Enmax over-charged us for our city-owned bills. Rather than give it back, the city just blew it. The city surplus keeps growing, but they still keep giving us double-digit tax increases.

(A little tax relief would be a welcome sight, but we won’t hold our breath)

King’s Canada

It has been a long time coming. The King has finally responded to Donald Trump, and his reply did not come remotely, it was delivered from the very land of the “strong and free.” The condition that Canada must either pay $61 billion to join Trump’s Golden Dome or become the 51st state to receive it for free should now defuse itself. The message to our southern neighbour could not have been clearer than the King’s arrival and his powerful speech. With his words affirming Canada’s sovereignty, he has reinforced the nation’s independent path, signalling its decisions will not be dictated by external pressure. His presence and address serve as an historic moment, reminding the world that Canada stands firm in its identity and future direction.

ANAS KHAN

(It was indeed a strong and clear message — but have you noticed since the election the Liberals’ elbows down approach?)
