In this unique take on the base-building genre, players assume the role of a fellow lord serving under a watchful king. The twist is that the king’s gaze directly influences the productivity of the realm. Keep subjects in line, manage kingdom operations, and maintain a careful balance of control, growth, and defense.
Players will build and expand their castles, carefully placing structures to gather rare resources and improve workflow. But there’s a catch: subjects only stay diligent when observed. Divert the king’s gaze, and workers might wander. Attention must be divided across food production, military preparation, and magical research, with mage guilds defending the castle and training grounds building a capable army.
Strategic resource management is vital. Feed the population, trade with nearby villages, and unlock arcane knowledge to enhance the kingdom’s strength. Players must decide where to deploy resources for maximum efficiency and power. As the campaign progresses, players can establish multiple kingdoms across varied biomes. Each region introduces new strategic considerations, from fortified palisades to sprawling stone walls. Troop placement becomes critical as enemy threats evolve.
Whether defending the homeland or expanding influence across the realm, The King is Watching challenges players to build, command, and conquer under the ever-present gaze of their sovereign.
