Letters, April 25, 2025: ‘Life under Mark Carney no pretty picture’

Article content

After hearing and reading the Prime Minister’s own Privy Council Report about Canada’s bleak and desolate future. With Mark Carney as Prime Minister, Canada will enter the darkest hour of the night. It ain’t pretty and it’s pretty ugly what Justin Trudeau did and what Mark Carney will do to Canada. Canada ought to be an example of what to do, but with the Liberals Canada is an example of what NOT to do. I’ll give my own bleak assessment of the future of Canada: If Carney and Liberals win the election, Canada is finished as a nation.

JEFFREY ANDERSON

(Bleak assessment, indeed. Let’s hope it doesn’t come to that)

Worst of times

This is the biggest crisis of our lifetime, says Mark Carney. He is correct! If the Liberals get back in again, it will be the worst thing to happen to Canada since Confederation.

BILL CRAWFORD

(When did Confederation get a bad rap?)

Seeing clearly

My immigrant friends joke that the Carney Liberals couldn’t manage a tuk-tuk. Frustration for immigrants reached a peak when they were forced to line up in an Alberta winter outside Canadian passport offices. Most immigrants are brave, very smart and they know exactly what is happening in North American politics. In Alberta, immigrants can see the political statements on the back of what seems to be every pickup truck. They even see the immigrants who work in construction, owning these pickup trucks, that advocate for Alberta separation. Intelligent immigrants have asked and answered the question: “Who will have the better economy in the next few years, Trump’s America or Carney’s Canada?” Brave immigrants look forward to Alberta becoming the 51st state and making the American dream their dream.

(Hopefully they haven’t completely given up on the Canadian dream)

Send a message

By getting out and voting on April 28, you will be sending a powerful message to Americans of your support for Canada and for Canadian independence and Canadian democracy.

Anger management

It’s a well-known fact that you can learn more about a person by playing a round of golf with them. How do they handle themselves when it does not go well? Do they lose their temper and blame what went wrong on everything but themselves? Does this sound like Donald Trump?

DONALD AULD

(That sounds familiar)
